Ezra Klein on Vox
Rebrand and set design for Ezra Klein’s video essays, creating a warmer, more textured visual identity.

This project rebranded Ezra Klein’s video essays for Vox, shifting away from plain, minimal backdrops to a richer, more visually engaging set design. The goal was to give Ezra a distinct visual identity that complemented his editorial voice while softening the formality of political commentary.

I designed and built a custom wood‑panel backdrop, with each piece individually cut, hand‑painted, and in some cases wrapped in newspaper for added depth and texture. The wall served as both a focal point for on‑camera segments and as inspiration for the entire motion graphics package. By introducing tactile, handcrafted textures, the design added warmth and visual interest while maintaining the seriousness of the subject matter.
