Comfort Women: A New Musical
Animated opening sequence providing historical context for an Off‑Broadway production.
Comfort Women: A New Musical tells the story of Korean women who were forced into sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. The production blends historical narrative with theatrical performance to shed light on a difficult chapter of history.
I created the animated opening sequence, projected onto the stage, which introduced the historical background and set the emotional tone for the performance. The visuals provided critical context before the narrative began, helping audiences engage more deeply with the story.
The musical premiered at Playwrights Horizons in New York City.
